January come join the Tales in the Mail Writing Challenge

Tales in the Mail
Goal: To submit short fiction for publication.

This challenge is fairly straight forward, submit as many tales as you can. This challenge will help you get into the habit of submitting on a regular schedule.

At the beginning of the challenge set a submission goal for the month. Then break that goal down into a weekly number to make submitting more manageable. When setting your goal make it reasonable but stretch yourself. Sharing your goal is a powerful tool. Having accountability to others is a great motivator.

For this challenge a submission is a tale submitted to a publisher. You can submit the same tale to multiple publishers as long as their submission guidelines allow it.

We will post market lists on our blog several times a week to help with the submission process. Also feel free to post listings that you have found.

We will also post encouragements on the blog and our face book to cheer you forward.

Welcome to the re-launch of The Starving Writer. We have taken the last few months to re-align ourselves to bring you a resource you can use to further your writing career.

Here are some of the highlights to our re-vamp:

• Our website has been updated with market lists, genre information, inspirations and more.
• Our newsletter is back with marketing tips, author interviews, prompts, writing challenges, markets list and other relevant information we think you can use. To sign up for the free newsletter visit our website. If you’d like to contribute see our submission guidelines.
• The Grand Opening of the Writers Shoppe featuring our new e-book developed to hone your craft, jump start your creativity and defeat writers block.
• Writing Challenges through out the year to keep you engaged in your writing.

What won’t be returning at this time is The Starving Writer Review. We believe in supporting writers in achieving their dreams of publication but we also believe writers should be paid for their work. At this time we are unable to do so. We hope in the future we will be able to re-launch the Review as a paying publication.

We have several resources/ tools and activities in development for 2012 and will release them through out the year.

We are excited to be back and look forward to the years ahead of us helping writer’s pursue their dreams.
