Farcry 6 Review
Legacy
The video review was attempted with a short vertical format so no video.
Gameplay
I’ve played all these games since Farcry 3 and the base gameplay hasn’t changed much. So if you didn’t like the older Farcrys, odds are you won’t care for this. At the very beginning you select the sex of the main character Dani, a new option Ubi is starting to implement into their games, very cool. After a short intro to the game, you start off with nothing but a machete and a few friends, having to take out military bases find more weapons and friends along the way. Throughout the island you find various pieces of clothing to equip, five pieces total for you body, every piece giving some sort of passive buff, like defense against a specific bullet or softer steps. You can equip up to four guns, 3 large and 1 sidearm. All gun types have a few base models and some legendary named versions. The base models can be modified to better suit your gameplay while legendary are as they are. The final peace of gear is also the newest added to the series, Supremos. There are seven total supremos in the game. They are a backpack, each with an amazing ability with a cooldown. The Supremos can be equipped with up to 4 gadgets like grenades, throwing knives, or even placeable turrets. With all those options you can destroy everything as loud or quiet, depending on your play style. Bust down doors in a blaze of glory or sneak around taking out enemies with your machete or silenced weapon. There are 3 main Guerilla bases on the island that you can somewhat customize. You can build 2 specialized buildings per base and upgrade them for better benefits. A cooking station to cook your animal meat for special buffs, or a building specified to help recruit more bandidos that is where all the medicine and metal you find will go.
Story
What I thought was really cool is the main character, Dani, has previous military experience. So being the badass they are taking out hundreds of soldados, it makes more sense for the story. After a fast paced intro you wake up on the beach and are introduced to the leader of Libertad, a small resistance fighting El Presidente and what hes doing to the country. From there Dani is tasked with recruitment and sabotage. Travel through Yara making new friends and enemies, increasing Libertad’s reach throughout the country. I don’t want to give to much away, so either play it yourself or watch the Let’s play.
Final thoughts
I’m a big Farcry fan, I really enjoyed this itineration to the series. I love to sneak around with my bow and arrows taking out enemies and bases. At times the NPCs can be really dumb and chaotic but it makes for some pretty good moments along the way. There are serious parts in Farcry, but the over the top wacky characters and missions really leave an impression. One thing I was kind of bummed about was the lack of what I felt to be staple characters to the Farcry series, like Hurk and Agent Willis appearing in Farcry since the third game. Only minor mentions as far as I could tell during my playthrough. All in all I would through this game on the Top Shelf, I enjoyed the whole trip and am seriously considering the DLC when it comes out. So, there you have it. Great game, good times, a definite buy if your into Farcry or open games, now on to the next one, see ya there.
